A tag for a decommissioned locomotive which has become a tourist attraction and generally remains in one place.
- For a decommissioned railway car (freight or passenger), see
historic=railway_car
instead.
How to map
Place a node at the location of the locomotive or draw an area
for the outline and use
historic=locomotive
. You can also name it with name=*
. If the locomotive is a tourist attraction, then add tourism=attraction
.
Some locomotives are located in a building, draw a area as a separate line with
building=*
. Set the locomotive separately as point or area
in the building. Don't use
building=*
on trains, because a locomotive is not a house. Add to the locomotive the property location=indoor
.
For a covered locomotive use covered=*
or on a separate area building=roof
.
Additional tags

- the name of the locomotive, if there is one.operator=*
- indicates the operator or name of the company operating the locomotive (e.g. as a tourism attraction)- addresses - the address of the locomotive

If the locomotive has some kind of amenity=*
like a bar, restaurant or tourism=*
like a hotel or a museum, it can be tagged as a separate node with own name and further information.
Remarks
Don't use building=*
on trains, even if they remain in one place.
